However, despite the best efforts of the crew, accidental loss or damage remain within the realm of possibility. Under the Motor Carrier Act, a carrier of household goods is liable to certain defined limits, for any loss or damage to the goods accepted for transportation. This coverage is referred to as “Released Protection” and is generally not sufficient, unless the owner of the goods has placed supplementary coverage through their personal insurance broker. If the latter is not the case, it is advisable to purchase “Replacement Coverage”. (See Valuations or Transit Protection below)

In the unfortunate event of a loss or damage a Statement of Claim will need to be completed. If the loss or damage is incurred during a local move or if Salmon's is the destination agent for a long distance move, please complete the Statement of Claim form and send it to Salmon's (see below).
